THE RFU EDUCATION GUIDE FOR YOUNG RUGBY PLAYERS

Aug 09, 14 THE RFU EDUCATION GUIDE FOR YOUNG RUGBY PLAYERS

This guide has been written by the RFU for young rugby players and their parents/carers and advisors who are considering the possibility of a career in professional rugby yet are unsure how this might fit with continuing education and a longer term career beyond the sport.

It explains how there are a number of opportunities and routes available for players to find a balance that works for them personally in their rugby and academic development. The “real-life” examples in this section demonstrate this range and how and where the players who have kindly agreed to share their experience have continued to study while they move along the rugby talent pathways.

Players such as Toby Flood and Chris Walker discuss how they are successfully balancing education and rugby currently, plus it also goes in-depth to player profiles that show a variation in the educational route. You will see a mixture of experience, support and degrees of flexibility applied in different clubs, schools, colleges and universities by players that came through the youth system in different capacity’s.
